What this conversion writes

The first output line is WEBVTT. Each SBV start, end pair becomes a WebVTT start --> end line; milliseconds stay the same. The output does not add SRT cue numbers. Basic two-line captions remain two lines. The file is plain UTF-8 WebVTT for a caption track; this tool does not add subtitles to a video or fetch a YouTube URL.

Our three-cue check

We ran our own 144-byte UTF-8 SBV file through the conversion code and read the resulting 185-byte WebVTT with this site's VTT parser. All three cues returned, from the first start at 00:00:01.250 to the last end at 00:00:09.125. These figures describe this test file, not a size or speed promise for yours.

When the input is out of order

A separate two-cue file placed a later-starting cue before an earlier one. The shared SBV parser stopped with Block 2: cues are out of time order. No VTT is produced from that input. Put the earlier-starting block first and run it again. Overlapping cues whose start times remain in order are not automatically repaired; inspect them against your video.

Questions before you download

Why did conversion stop at Block 2?

In our two-cue test, the second block started earlier than the first, so the parser stopped with Block 2: cues are out of time order. Put the blocks in start-time order and try again; the tool does not silently reorder them.

Will this open a YouTube URL?

No. Export or obtain an .sbv file yourself, then choose that local file here.

Does it convert styling or speaker positions?

No. This page handles the basic timestamped SBV text layout. Review the VTT preview before saving.

Need numbered SRT instead?

Use the SBV to SRT tool. For the VTT header and cue syntax, see the WebVTT file format example.
